Basic Function

The HR Consultant will provide Human Resources support to global client groups and will be based at the Houston Engineering Center in Houston, Texas. This position will support a highly technical group of employees across the globe with focus on: talent acquisition and retention, enhancing the employee experience; onboarding, performance management, employee lifecycle activities, DE&I initiatives, regulatory and compliance matters and programs supporting our transformation and strategic growth initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provides direct contact for HR support to assist in the achievement of both company and employee goals and objectives
• Partners with hiring managers and Talent Acquisition COE to ensure staffing and recruitment activities produce quality hires in a timely manner and the candidate experience is of the highest quality
• Manages and delivers the onboarding and offboarding activities ensuring the best employee experience possible
• Support client groups with headcount reporting and budgeting
• Ensures delivery high quality HR processes and data requests with zero defects
• Provides trusted counsel and support to employees ensuring HR policies and procedures and accurately communicated and adhered to
• Participates in talent development and assists managers with identifying needs and creating development plans
• Supports clients through annual merit cycle, performance management processes, talent management reviews, etc.
• Participates in project teams in client organization, providing guidance and support as appropriate
• Supports the Employee & Labor Relations COE with compliance, regulatory matters and assists with internal investigations as needed
• Partners with Medical Case Management to ensure compliance with FMLA, LyondellBasell leave of absence policies, Drug and Alcohol program, pre-placement processes, and etc.
• Maintains knowledge of LyondellBasell HR policies, procedures, site guidelines, benefits, and payroll rules to address employee questions and ensure accurate interpretation/understanding
• Maintains positive employee relations with client groups thorough frequent interaction, in-person visits, and proactive communication

Min. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a preference in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Human Resources Generalist or similar HR professional
• Must have solid HR fundamental and broad-based experience in HR, including employee relations and knowledge/understanding of EEO laws, Affirmative Action, and conflict resolution
• Ability to work with all levels of employees from front line employees to senior management Ability to drive change; challenge the status quo; and take specific actions to facilitate change
• Excellent team building skills, self-motivated with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Creative problem-solver with strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-up skills
• Strong communication skills to include verbal, written, and interpersonal

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the chemical and/or oil and gas industry
• SAP/SuccessFactors experience
• Resources Management Professional HR Certification preferred (HRCI or SHRM)
• Proficiency working independently in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Microsoft Teams
