KIPP Metro Atlanta currently operates eleven KIPP schools including four primary schools, five middle schools, one K-6 school, and one high school, as well as the KIPP Forward program which supports students through college, career, and beyond.


Job Description


The Support Team seeks an experienced Human Resource (HR) Manager who will support senior HR management and schools with crucial HR functions. Reporting directly to the Director of HR, the HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing the following functional areas: benefits administration, training, policy development and implementation, workers’ compensation, payroll support, and HRIS and data systems. This position will collaborate with key stakeholders to provide services that facilitate the successful support of the organization. The HR department will focus on achieving the following goals:

  • KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools has the necessary talent foundation in place to build upon and grow as a region
  • 80% of teachers across the region are retained annually
  • 90% of new employees at KIPP Metro Atlanta will agree or strongly agree that they received the information needed in regards to onboarding (e.g., compensation, benefits, new hire paperwork, new hire orientation, and HR policies/procedures)

As a Human Resource Manager, your core responsibilities include:

Compliance

  • Approves payroll on semi-monthly basis and partners with the Payroll Administrator to ensure compliance with state/federal law, internal HR policies, and employee communications
  • Conducts monthly check-in’s with the Payroll Administrator
  • Maintains HR data in State systems (GHR, Atlas, GaPSC, Infinite Campus) and manages associated audits and CPI process
  • Collaborates with Data Team to troubleshoot issues with Registrars and employees
  • Responsible for position management in HRIS
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures compliance
  • Reports compliance issues to Director of HR
  • Develops, implements, and communicates policy and procedure changes (e.g., employee handbook revisions)
  • Consults with Director of HR regarding legal issues
  • Represents the company for any unemployment claims
  • Performs annual background check audit and supports other audits requiring HR data

Human Resources Management

  • Maintains human resource information system (Paycom & DocuSign) and compiles reports from the database
  • Recommends and creates new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve efficiencies in the HR department
  • Maintains accurate and complete electronic and paper files for all employees at assigned schools
  • Preserves the confidentiality of sensitive employee information
  • Supports HR department with regularly updating and modifying job descriptions
  • Works directly with school leadership to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters
  • Manages exit process including exit surveys and interviews
  • Develops and maintains accurate records regarding the clearance certification for all KIPP Metro Atlanta Teachers and Staff
  • Complete staff rostering verification for KIPP Foundation

Compensation and Benefits

  • Assists with the annual review, preparation, and implementation of compensation structure
  • Performs benefits administration to include open enrollment, COBRA, claims resolution, change reporting and benefits reconciliation (e.g., medical, dental, vision, and Life/LTD)
  • Communicates benefits information to employees/partners with vendors to create brochures and documents
  • Manages and maintains employee changes/workflow process (e.g., DocuSign changes)
  • Partners with Director of Operations to administer and implement workers’ compensation program
  • Enforces existing compensation policies and stipend guidelines
  • Performs special projects pertaining to compensation and compensation analysis
  • Reviews annual benefits audit (e.g., medical, dental, vision, Life/LTD)


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or closely related field
  • 5-7 years of directly related experience
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification desired
  • Knowledge of employment law, finance and/or payroll functions preferred
  • HRIS management experience
  • Relentless results-orientation backed by a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with developing and maintaining productive working relationships with several stakeholders throughout an organization
  • Ability to work as a leader and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage the ambiguity and multiple priorities
  • Experience dealing with diverse populations
  • Multi-facility experience preferred
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
