My client has a Direct Hire opportunity for a IBMi System Administrator!

This position is with an IT service company with offices across the continent.


In your day-to-day you will be responsible for:
  • IBMi / iSeries LPar builds, disk management, and execution of custom CL scripts for automation as/where needed.
  • Administration of environment components including security controls, TCP/IP, BRMS, Job control, performance and capacity planning, system updates, and license management
  • Perform platform-specific technical tasks including operating system upgrades, installation and configuration of various software packages, installation of patches and fixes (PTFs)
  • Perform problem analysis, documentation, root-cause analysis, and create incident reports for complex system environments.
  • Maintain documentation of system and application monitoring, scheduling packages, and tape management systems
  • Operation of tape management solutions, including physical and virtual tape libraries
  • Maintain and develop security solutions, BRMS, authentication and directory services to ensure the security of servers and confidential data.
  • Ability to participate in after-hours escalations and 24x7 on call as scheduled
  • Adhere to company and IT policies.
  • Data Replication QEDD, Mimix, and others
  • OS Upgrades is a plus.
  • Administration of HMC
  • VIOs is a plus.


What you should have:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in IBM i administration, including experience with troubleshooting and maintenance of environments running the IBMi operating systems on power-based hardware
  • 3+ years in a security role (Privileged Access Remediation, Object Level Security, IFS Security, Group Profiles, Authorization Lists, Security System Values)
  • Ability to work in a fast passed, dynamic environment
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills required.
  • Experience with hardware management console and LPAR configuration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Eligibility to work in the USA
