JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under general direction of the Director of Quality Management, the Infection Preventionist promotes and maintains an active infection control program through surveillance and investigative activities, consultation, education, policy development and research throughout Central Vermont Medical Center (Hospital, Woodridge Rehabilitation and Nursing and Clinics). The Infection Preventionist works to reduce the risk of health care-associated infections and improve patient and resident outcomes by working collaboratively with the medical staff, all departments and administration to assure that facilities and services are compliant with infection control evidence based practice as well as local, state and regulatory infection control standards. The successful candidate will be housed at Woodridge and will integrate with the I.P. Team at the Hospital.

EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited healthcare education program required. A willingness to become certified by the Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology within twelve months of hire is highly desirable. The cost of the certification will be covered by the employer A minimum of one Infection Preventionist at CVMC must hold this certification.
