Infectious Disease Nurse Practitioner (Medical Nurse Practitioner – MR14)

The Infectious Disease Nurse Practitioner acts as a full-time health care provider caring for the campus community who presents for evaluation and treatment. This position will be the subject matter expert in infectious disease pandemic planning, prevention, detection, and management. The Nurse Practitioner will primarily manage clinical and administrative tasks related to general patient care as well as individual and campus safety around infectious diseases.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive health care to students and employees of UTC including diagnosing illnesses, creating plans of care, administering and prescribing treatments, conducting exams, ordering and interpreting tests, diagnosing, and following up on patient care with a special focus on policies, procedures, and education for infectious disease-related health concerns or presentations; work in tandem with the clinic, director, and campus.

Provide leadership in regard to infectious disease policies/procedures, education, prevention, detection, and management including pandemic planning with a special focus on evolving evidence based practices, with oversight from the Director of UHS and input from the Chief Health Affairs Officer; work with the Hamilton County Health Department or other health organizations as needed related to infectious disease reporting, screening, or information; serve as the campus community liaison and resource to provide education and information related to questions and concerns about infectious diseases.

Serve as an Electronic Medical Record Super User related to infectious disease and vaccine-related templates, labs, etc.; educate staff on latest recommendations, updates, and policy or procedure changes.

• Proficient with Microsoft Suite

• Able to multitask effectively

• Experience with Medicat EHR

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree; two years’ experience as a registered nurse in either primary or acute care; current family nurse practitioner or adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner certification; and unencumbered TN State License for an advanced practice registered nurse and a registered nurse.

Preferred Qualifications: One year employed as a licensed nurse practitioner; experience in infectious disease management, quality control, and/or health crisis response management; and experience as an emergency room, school health, or urgent care healthcare provider.
