POSITION REPORTS TO:
Store Manager

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES:
The primary responsibility of the Inside Sales Staff position is to provide timely, professional, knowledgeable service to all customers of Gualala Building Supply. Each Inside Sales Staff member is additionally responsible for keeping the front counter clean, organized and inviting.

In addition to this overview of job duties, other assignments or job duties may be required.

SPECIFIC AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Handle all Customer questions and transactions in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
This includes cash and charge invoices, will-calls and delivery orders, special orders, estimates, purchase orders and transfers. Utilize correct item codes when processing transactions to assure accurate inventory.

2. Handle Customer questions and complaints while successfully balancing between protecting the company’s assets and reputation and satisfying the Customer’s needs. If issues cannot be resolved satisfactorily, escalate issue to Assistant Manager or Store Manager.

3. Handle incoming phone calls quickly, and respond to inquiries politely and professionally.

4. Become knowledgeable of the goods and services offered by our vendors so price quotes and special orders can be processed within acceptable time limits and with accurate pricing.

5. Possess a satisfactory understanding of the retail store and yard layout so that any questions regarding department or product location can be answered quickly and accurately.

6. Monitor all of your orders in the Open Order Report at least weekly to ensure that all data is accurate. Confirm that your customers are regularly updated on the status of their orders and that deposits are received and processed whenever dictated by company policy.

7. Overall management of store including regular cleaning and facing of products and any other functions requested by management.

8. Supply Customers with Safety Data Sheet(s) (SDS) upon request. Possess a basic understanding of the use and interpretation of SDS.

9. Continually pursue expertise in product knowledge to stay current with new product lines and how those products compare with alternative products.

10. Work in a safety conscious manner at all times. Follow all safety regulations and security guidelines. Actively contribute to work safety and security. Maintain a safe, clean, and pleasant work environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent

2. Minimum 2 years experience in wholesale or retail building material sales

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:

1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly and correctly, and choose the correct mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.

2. Ability to understand and communicate written and spoken information and ideas.

3. Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

4. Ability to lift, carry and maneuver goods that may weigh 50 pounds, utilizing additional personnel and mechanical assistance as required.

5. Ability to courteously and professionally interact with our Customers.

6. Ability to encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.

7. Ability to keep up to-date technically and apply new knowledge to job.

8. Ability to manage work time efficiently.
