SUMMARY
An Instructional Designer supports corporate projects and initiatives, serving as a team lead or single point of contact (SPOC) representing the Learning & Development team. An Instructional Designer may work solo or in collaboration on small to large-scale projects, and may lead or co-lead project teams, and mentor team members. Typical day-to-day tasks include leading and/or performing tasks related to the analysis, design, development, and in some cases the delivery of web-based and/or instructor-led training for new hire onboarding, new system rollouts, system enhancements, corporate software upgrades, new credit union products, new rules & regulations, and compliance.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and Develop Training- 80%
  • Work with subject matter experts to identify the target audience’s training needs
  • Conduct appropriate analyses to discover underlying cause(s) of performance issues or problems
  • Define applicable objectives and design/develop engaging solutions to resolve performance and non-performance related issues/problems
  • Design and develop engaging and interactive training content and materials, including web-based courseware (including graphics, basic videos or animations, and system simulations), instructor guides, learner workbooks, slide decks, job aids, handouts, etc.
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role-plays, games, etc.)
  • Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course
  • Plan, execute, and interpret the implementation and evaluation of training interventions
  • Facilitate Training- 10%
  • Pilot training as needed for new training launches
  • Lead Train-the-Trainer sessions as needed and provide coaching and support to Training Specialists and team members through the preparation and delivery of new training
  • Other Duties- 10%
  • Professional development: Research and study various components of Instructional Design and Human Performance Improvement to stay current in the field
  • Attend corporate and/or team meetings
  • Generate standard reports
  • Complete special projects and other work as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Training, Communications, Education, or similar field required or equivalent combination of education and work experience

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 4+ years of experience Training, Instructional Design, or equivalent (samples may be asked for)
  • 2+ years of experience of designing and developing training
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing web-based training and instructor-led trainingPage Break

REQUIRED SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Apply best practices in adult learning theory in the design of web-based and instructor-led training
  • Conduct analyses
  • Design and create well-structured and engaging instructional materials
  • Advanced technical and creative writing skills, visual design skills, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with team, subject matter experts and business stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Use a Windows-based PC at an expert-level
  • Proficiency in course authoring tools and Microsoft Office suite
