Title: Instructional Systems Designer
Reports to: Vertex Courseware Business Unit Lead

Job Summary
This individual will analyze Government-provided content to design and develop level 2 and level 3 interactive multimedia instruction. The position requires hands on experience with the application of the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE) Instructional Model to include job task analysis and courseware production experience. The ideal candidate will have experience applying a commonsense approach to creating training that provides measurable performance outcomes. Ability to write eLearning Storyboards and apply distance learning training requirements. Working experience with multiple learning content management system tools a must. Ability to support multiple Learning Management Systems and 508 Compliance a plus. Familiarity with TRADOC 350-70 or MIL-HDBK-29612 documentation is a plus.
This is a Remote/Work-From-Home position.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct Analysis:
- Assist with analysis activities to identify learner tasks and sub-tasks
- Select technologies and instructional strategies for different learning needs
- Identify deficiencies or gaps in knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies
- Prepare a plan to meet the shortfall in knowledge, skills and attitudes, and competencies, to include measurable learning objectives
- Suggest appropriate sources and information needed to fill content gaps
- Conduct a media analysis to determine the most effective and efficient learning solution (e.g., WBT, blended, ILT, simulation, job aid, etc.)
- Support the Design of Course Content:
- Evaluate client-provided content and content aggregation
- Research content
- Review technical guidance and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to extract technical instructional content to support learning objectives
- Develop content at a level appropriate to defined objectives and target audience
- Develop high-level and detailed content outlines
- Develop storyboards to include designing learner interactions
- Develop assessment instruments
- Use commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) tools to develop courseware
- Collaborate with graphic designers, programmers, and quality assurance staff to deliver high quality products

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and work on a computer for long periods to time. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, and kneel. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to ten pounds as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the core work hours of 0900 - 1530 and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel may be expected for this position.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
- 4+ years experience
- Master s degree in Instructional Systems Design, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Instructional Technology, or related field, or Bachelor s degree plus 6+ years experience.
- Demonstrated experience with the ADDIE model
- Experience in the simultaneous management of several projects
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite products
- Experience with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) authoring tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Adobe Animate, Articulate Storyline, Lectora, etc.)
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
- Experience working as a government consultant
- Experience with one or more of the following
- Section 508 compliance and the necessary considerations when designing learning solutions with those requirements
- Learning Management Systems (LMSs), Learning Content Management Systems (LCMSs), or Talent Management Systems (TMSs)
- SCORM or xAPI
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire. Background checks- criminal, civil, employment, and education required. Drug screening in compliance with drug free workplace standards. Ability to obtain a federal government clearance when required for projects.
