The Position:
ISC Engineering is seeking an Instrument and Controls Engineer who will provide technical and design support for instrumentation and control system related scopes on projects executed for clients in the petrochemical industry.

Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrating strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health, and safety policies.
  • Utilizing company engineering design, CAD drafting, and 3D modelling standards in execution of work.
  • Working with design teams to create engineering designs and deliverables, including drawings, instructions, and specifications produced to meet project schedule and budget constraints. The designs must also meet client and applicable industry statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Engineering and design work on various instrument and control discipline deliverables including, but not limited to: junction box and marshalling design drawings, P&ID's, loop drawings, wiring drawings, motor control schematics, control panel layouts, instrument location drawings, instrument I/O room plans and elevations, instrument installation details, wiring connection diagrams, I/O lists, instrument indexes, conduit/cable schedules, fiber optic and Ethernet network design drawings, and construction or engineering work packages.
  • Creating instrument specifications and executing engineering calculations and sizing/selection techniques for primary measurement instrumentation (flow, level, temperature, pressure, analytical, etc.), final control instrumentation (on/off and control valves), and pressure relief instrumentation (pressure safety valves, rupture disks, low pressure vents, etc.).
  • Conduct field trips to client production facilities to gather operating data and instrument and control equipment information.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited educational institution is required.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) registration or Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in the petrochemical industry or experience working in related industries with experience in operations, maintenance, fabrication, or construction.
  • A valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company standards and its insurers.
  • Familiarity with process industry practices.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor, keep required work schedule, focus on attention to details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based upon technical information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD software is desired.
  • Working knowledge of SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) software is desired.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams).
  • Working knowledge of industry recognized and generally accepted standards, codes, and practices related to instrumentation and control system design.
