Insurance Verification & Authorization Job at Orange County Urology Associates
Job Description:
The Insurance Verification & Authorization position is responsible for verifying medical insurance benefits, obtaining authorizations, and making and receiving billing phone calls. Daily interaction with patients and insurance companies in regard to authorization and eligibility.
Essential Functions:
- Verifies eligibility and benefits, and collects information related to deductible, copay, and coinsurance amounts, and contacts patient with amount due
- Obtains authorizations for PPO and HMO for office visits, procedures, imaging, health supplies and physician referrals as necessary
- Collects and update demographics and patient information as necessary
- Run daily/weekly reports for appointment efficiency
- Review voicemail daily and respond to billing inquiries
- Assists patients and internal staff with eligibility and benefit questions
- Responds to lab requests for insurance or diagnosis information
- Additional tasks as assigned by manager or lead
Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Demonstrates responsibility and initiative
- Ability to handle a stressful environment and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of current billing practices preferred
- Familiar with HMO and PPO insurances
- Ability to read and understand insurance EOBs
- Knowledge of Care Cloud and UroChart software preferred
- Medical terminology and clinical experience preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.39 - $21.31 per hour
