Internal Auditor and Compliance Analyst Job at Advocates for Human Potential, Inc.
Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (“AHP”) is seeking a highly competent accounting professional to serve in the role of Internal Auditor. This newly created position will be responsible for auditing the files and ensuring compliance with grant requirements for specific projects. All candidates should be experienced accounting professionals, with a background in auditing and compliance, that are detail oriented, and self-motivated. As a result of the recent and tremendous growth at AHP, there will be opportunities to take on more responsibility and grow within AHP as proficiency in the primary tasks set forth below is illustrated.

AHP is a fast-growing consulting and research firm specializing in Health and Behavioral Health, offering technical assistance and training, system and program development, resource development and dissemination, and research and evaluation. Our core content areas include mental health policy and services, substance abuse treatment and prevention, co-occurring disorders, workforce development, eHealth, homelessness, housing and employment programs, trauma, domestic violence, and criminal justice.
Overall Responsibilities
- Review and understand record keeping requirements of specific grants
- Select and examine files for accuracy and completeness
- Verify funds expended in accordance with the budget and statement of work (SOW)
- As appropriate, identify and recommend updates to policies, procedures, and systems in an effort to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Assist with the preparation of various reporting requirements of clients
- Perform other related accounting duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in auditing or similar function
- CPA and/or Public Accounting experience preferred
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, manage priorities effectively and adhere to deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products, especially Excel
- Maintains a team-oriented, can-do attitude
- Flexible working schedule to account for working with staff in CA
- Sense of humor
