Inventory Control Manager Job at HOSKIN & MUIR INC
Job Summary: The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for ensuring the accurate reporting of inventory consumption, performing inventory counts, and maintaining product inventory levels to support the sales and production functions. The Inventory Control Manager reports to the VP of Supply Chain.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of an inventory tracking system for optimized inventory control procedures
- Examine the levels of raw materials and supplies to determine shortages
- liaise with purchasing/receiving regarding daily shipments and deliveries to replenish inventory
- Utilize strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Create detailed reports for tracking adjustments, inventory operations and stock levels
- Oversee receiving and shipping of intercompany orders, ensuring transactions are complete, correct and on time
- Direct accountability, leadership, and oversight of inventory accuracy
- Responsible for maintaining data relevant to inventory activities including location data
- Coordinate cycle counts for both raw materials and finished goods
- Report yields and monitor for accuracy
- Work with the Demand Planner Manager to ensure inventory levels are at expected volume and working capital levels, and provide solutions when business parameters change and require a change to inventory expectations
- Build and maintain key relationships with management and key stakeholders
- Coordinate and correct all inventory-related issues
- Maintain and update all departmental areas on general communications and internal/external stakeholder inquiries to facilitate accurate inventory transactions and reporting
- Provide support and act as back-up to other functional Inventory team members when needed
- Report weekly/monthly results of inventory control accuracy and impact to order fulfillment
- Reconcile inventory discrepancies and follow-up with an investigation to determine the root cause of the discrepancies
- Develop, implement, and improve inventory control procedures to ensure inventory accuracy
- Analyze and reconcile inventory variances on a weekly basis and issue periodic reports
- Ensure the daily/weekly parts counting reconciliation objectives are met
- Confirm the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of the count process
- Ensure associates are trained and following standard operating procedures at all times
- Monitor to ensure that all employees comply with safety regulations
- Manage daily operations through Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Create and maintain a culture of information-sharing and knowledge
- Work cross-functionally to always improve inventory accuracy
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledgeable of warehouse/inventory management systems/software
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Required Education and Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience in inventory management
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or the equivalent inventory management experience
- Material Handling/Warehouse Operations experience in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Shipping experience
- Experience in barcoding or RFID system
- Previous experience as a supervisor
Physical Demands:
- Physical dexterity, Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
