Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinates cycle counts for all stores
  • Coordinates and is responsible for annual inventory count at all stores
  • Organizes and reconciles skus and prices between stores
  • Responsible for accuracy of inventory at all stores
  • Works with vendors and stores to set up new skus
  • Works with stores on daily and monthly sku maintenance including accurate pricing, sku description, ensuring that the count in the yard is the same as what is in the electronic point of sale system
  • Works with others to coordinate set up of new point of sale system and online web store for company
  • Occasionally works sales counter as needed
  • Occasionally meets with vendors to learn about new items focusing on prices, margins, item data points, etc
  • Coordinates new vendor and sku set up and also responsible for ongoing sku maintenance in system
  • Development of standard processes for inventory counts, maintenance, prices, and descriptions, and processes and procedures including cycle counts, sku audits, elimination of duplicate and non moving items
  • Responsible for working with managers, vendors and others to update cost, average cost, and retails
  • Evaluates margins and makes suggestions to managers to update prices that are both competitive and maintain positive gross margins that align with the gross margin goals for the company
  • Audits items and makes suggestions for consolidation and replacement of like skus to streamline assortments and inventory for more efficiency. Merges data from multiple skus into one items
  • Runs reports for others as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Skills & Qualifications

  • Must have previous retail management experience (candidates with 5+ years of management are preferred)
  • Must have excellent communication (written and verbal)
  • Must have the ability to work with electronic technology including Google and the associated Google applications
  • Must be able to move products around the store and help change layouts (must be able to lift up to 50 lbs at a time)
  • Must have previous retail management experience (candidates with 5+ years of management are preferred) preferably in a lumber or home center environment.
  • Possess the ability to know the layout of the store and yard and learn the store's products and how to improve the store
  • Be able to train new store associates on proper techniques and inventory guidelines.
  • Knowledge of building processes and estimating is preferred
  • Experience buying and selling lumber and building materials is preferred
