Job Summary

Database administrator (DBA) is responsible to install, update, monitor, maintain, and performance tune to Island Finance LLC databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. DBA is responsible for implementing and supporting database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.

Essential Function and Responsibilities

• Provide Oracle database support
• Coordinates, directs and performs complex database software installations and upgrades to operating systems and related database software packages.
• Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
• Continually monitors and tunes multiple database systems and databases to achieve optimum performance levels.
• Establish, implement and maintain database security policies
• Establish and implement database disaster recovery plans and monitor the automated daily backups.
• Assign Storage Area Network (SAN) space and instances administration
• Achieve log for critical databases.
• Create complex query definitions that allow data to be extracted.
• Work with Application team to ensure database changes adhere to best practices and are properly prioritized and scheduled.
• Maintain service level agreements for performance and reliability requirements for new and existing applications.
• Understand requirements, develop, implement and maintain automation scripts in a LINUX environment.
• Escalate product-related DBA issues to third party product vendors.
• Implement monitoring tool thresholds and conduct proactive event remediation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology
• Advanced knowledge of database structure and theory
• Oracle DBA Certification
• 2 years of experience managing Oracle databases
• 2 years of experience with Linux
• 2 years of experience with Oracle Automatic Storage Management(ASM)
• 2 years of experience with Oracle RMAN backup and recovery operations
• Experience with SQL, MSSQL, RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems
• Understanding of disaster recovery and database backup procedures.
• Understanding and management of high availability environments.
• Familiarity with reporting tools
• Experience with cloud-based services
