The Position:
The ITDM will work closely with product managers, peers, senior leaders, vendors, and team members to ensure alignment of Architecture & Engineering priorities with business initiatives, security and compliance needs, and key technology plans. The incumbent will have autonomy to articulate and execute plans to address partner and team needs using state of the art methods. The ITDM will create IT governance outputs to report on the status and progress, and work with the IT leadership team to articulate risks or decisions that need to be made for priority or other conflicts.

In Arch Insurance, the IT Delivery Manager is in charge of critical intake, coordination, prioritization, and execution capabilities for the Architecture & Engineering organization. These include driving organization strategy and roadmap development, partnering with digital product managers in the LOB technology teams and the central EA/infrastructure teams to capture and prioritize demand and share planned activities, making managing and communicating the planned work of the teams, driving delivery of the teams, ensuring correct staffing for work, negotiating changes to priorities and work, tracking and reporting on work planned and in progress, and managing key traditional IT projects and programs end-to-end from design to delivery including resourcing cost and schedule. While primarily working in agile methodologies (scrum and Kanban), the ITDM will also manage traditional waterfall-style projects as needed.

- Documenting, maintaining, and communicating the strategic roadmap for the Architecture & Engineering functional team
- In partnership with LOB and corporate stakeholders, lead the team vision and strategic planning. This includes multi-year roadmap development and periodic review processes that will be incorporated into the broader company plans.
- Consistently communicate and foster close relationships with DPMs and software development executives to uncover unmet needs and opportunities for improvement.
- Plan, prioritize, and manage the team work items and stories from conceptual stages through life cycles to meet technical, compliance, and business objectives. Ensure cross-stories are in place and are accepted before teams expect work or begin work.
- Manage the capacity of the team and negotiate with DPMs, software leaders, and IT leadership on re-prioritization when capacity is exceeded. Report on unplanned work / fire-drills worked by the team.
- When running a traditional project, owns the project including leadership, direction, and oversight of the project team and vendor activities; structuring and managing the project and its timing and controls; creating and updating and sharing materials; monitoring, controlling, and reporting risks to cost/spending, schedule, and performance; and reporting and communication to all levels including senior leadership.
- Collaborate with the LOB and corporate EA/Infra teams to ensure consistent execution of product and project plans following established SDLC methodologies (including scrum and Kanban) and processes that result in delivery on-time and on-budget.
- Create and present governance materials including product, initiative, and project status, cost and financial status, etc.
- In partnership with EA, Engineering, and Product teams, build business case for proposed technologies and platforms that benefit one or more business lines, including cost/benefit estimates, market trends and best practices, and timelines. Drive the financial/ROI analysis to quantify & determine value to the company.
- Manage recurring mini-projects such as patching, upgrades, and other activities that include testing and other coordination, potentially managing a staff member to handle these tasks
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate objectives, inspire and motivate staff, and maintain alignment with the business strategy.
- A background in architecture, infrastructure engineering, software development, or agile program management, or IT product management.
- Experience acting as a product manager with a technology product or as an agile delivery manager.
- Experience with at least one project/program management methodology and one agile methodology (scrum and/or Kanban)
- Knowledge and understanding of the business processes and employee work patterns the technology supports, to help prioritize and develop decision making criteria for major projects.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with all kinds of internal customers and external vendors.
- Exceptional customer and end user experience focus, and diplomatic and consensus building skills. Able to evaluate, analyze, interpret, and represent the voice of the customer.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a technical and non-technical audience
- Excellent problem solving, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
- Critical thinking for analysis of existing processes to implement continuous improvement programs
- Effectiveness at overcoming internal barriers and negotiate resource constraints to produce successful outcomes
- Substantial consulting leadership experience, leading team(s) to drive results
- Ability to be both strategic and tactical and understand when each is preferable
- Strong knowledge of technologies and digital channels/platforms, optimization and full utilization of technology supported, and a solid understanding of technology capacity and limitations.
- Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and rapidly changing environment
- Demonstrated ability to establish relationship and build rapport to influence colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, uncover business issues, and identify needs
- Knowledge of IT Project Management processes, procedures, documentation and reporting criteria per PMI/PMBOK methodologies (as an example).
- Experience creating and maintaining roadmaps for a technology organization
- Experience with software development or infrastructure engineering a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or 7 years equivalent work experience
