ITSD also plans and coordinates the implementation of advanced technology.
IT Security Specialist are responsible for improving the overall security posture of the organization. They evaluate, test and document security solutions and controls, and work closely with other security team members to remediate risk while ensuring the business is able to innovate. IT Security Specialist must continually adapt to stay a step ahead of cyber attackers and stay up to date on the latest methods attackers use to infiltrate computer systems. Analysts in this role are expected to consistently learn and grow. This is not a passive career opportunity, but rather one that requires a passion for security and rigor to protect the business. IT Security Specialist collaborate with internal and external audit and exam teams, along with technology management and business stakeholders.
The IT Security Specialist will be responsible for the following:
1. Responsible for ensuring that the departments distributed computer environment adheres to today's security standards.
2. Patch Management for all 25,000 NYPD desktops, image standardization and creation, anti-virus and anti-malware system scanning and alerting, and provide detailed reports to management.
3. Responsible for managing the team tasked with maintaining all aspects of active directory (AD), creating and maintaining AD security groups, tracing and ensuring installation of security certificates, and the management and troubleshooting of the departments Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) offering.
4. Act as a liaison between ITB's Information Technology Services Division and the Information Security Department. Will regularly meet with the departments Chief of Info Security and ensure that all operational activities adhere to Info Sec. and industry standards in information security. Will work with a team on aspects of the department's identity management system.
5. Will assist in the evaluation of new security tools as it relates to the department's desktop infrastructure.

Minimum Qual Requirements
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position; or,
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Preferred Skills
Incident response and system monitoring and analysis; Experience with compliance requirements; Ability to effectively communicate business risk as it relates to information security; Experience in conducting risk assessments that protect the business and adhere with compliance and privacy laws; Knowledge of multiple computing platforms, including Windows, OSX, Linux, Unix, networks and endpoints; Experience with vulnerability and penetration testing engagements; Experience with change and project management.
