Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $70,122.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

About the Job:

As the Information Security Analyst, you will perform all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Monitor and keeps the supervisor informed of the status of information security and confidentiality conditions, including problem areas and recommended enhancements.
  • Interface with the user community to understand their security needs and implements procedures to accommodate them.
  • Develop information security standards for protecting information systems and large/small-scale operating systems.
  • Recommend appropriate security safeguards for developing new information technology systems and legacy systems.
  • Ensure maximum computer hardware and software features are utilized to secure automated systems and associated data.
  • Develop and implements procedures for the use of information security management software.
  • Propose information security software enhancements.
  • Develop procedures for detecting, reporting, and investigating security breaches.
  • Perform periodic audits to ensure security policies and standards are followed, develop enhancements recommendations, and generate reports where necessary.
  • Keep abreast of new laws and changes affecting privacy standards, physical security, logical, remote terminal, and network security.
  • Mentor and guides new or lower-level staff.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Thorough knowledge of information security management tools, policies, and standards of information security practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal legislation and regulatory laws about information system security and privacy.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer programs/languages and the operating system: mainframe/PC Local Area Network, dial-in access control techniques, and online teleprocessing program.
  • Familiarity with domain structures, user authentication, and digital signatures.
  • Thorough understanding of firewall theory and configuration;
  • Ability to develop and maintain information security standards.
  • Ability to understand and apply complex computer logic to work.
  • Ability to work effectively with various information technologists, including systems administrators, technical support, applications development, end users, and management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports; however, supervision may be assigned based on agency needs.
