Salary: $26,000 to $33,000 annually

Job Summary: To maintain the safety and sanitation of center environment.

Job Duties:

1. Adhere to Otero College Child Development Services policies and procedures.
2. Comply with Head Start Performance Standards and State of Colorado Rules and

Regulations for Child Care Centers.
3. Support and implement the mission and goals of Otero College Child Development

Services.
4. Report and document any suspected child abuse and neglect in compliance with

Colorado law and agency policies and procedures.
5. Understand and implement Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act, and

Child Policies and Procedures as they apply to program management and supervision.
6. Encourage and support family engagement in all aspects of the Head Start program.
7. Participate in all required in-service training and applicable workshops.
8. Work as part of a team to provide a welcoming environment for families and visitors.
9. Be an effective problem solver.
10. Clean and mop restrooms at least twice a day and as required by center needs. One cleaning needs to be at the end of the day after children leave.
11. Clean and mop all hallways daily.
12. Clean and mop the dining areas after each meal and as required by the center needs.
13. Clean and mop Kitchen daily.
14. Maintain floors including sweeping and mopping and reporting any problems to the center manager.
15. Wash mop heads weekly.
16. Clean windows and window ledges weekly and as needed.
17. Empty trash cans for all areas twice a day.
18. Ensure that classroom or meeting rooms are set up for scheduled meetings.
19. Disinfect waste baskets daily and as required by the center needs.
20. Check and refill towel, toilet paper and soap dispensers daily and as needed.
21. Vacuum carpets daily and empty vacuum cleaner bags as needed.
22. Monitor the safety of the playground, equipment and center needs in a prompt manner to ensure that safety of all staff and children.23. Report center safety concerns promptly to the Center Manager.
24. Report any repair needs to the Center Manager on a timely basis.
25. Use Playground Safety Checklist weekly and submit to Center Manager.
26. Assure that all janitorial supplies are always locked up and kept out of the reach of children.
27. Perform routine repair and maintenance of equipment, building and grounds at the assigned center and as delegated by the Center Manager or Facility Operation
Specialist.

28. Maintain outdoor grounds by mowing lawn, cutting weeds weekly and as needed.
Sweep sidewalks around building daily.

29. Remove snow and shovel all access walks and pathways before staff arrives in mornings and as necessary to keep walkways clear and unobstructed.

30. Wash stairs leading up to sinks and pull away from walls weekly.
31. Make supply list and submit order to Center Manager before depletion of supplies.
32. Develop and post schedule of janitorial duties with assistance of Center Manager.
33. Complete weekly and monthly check lists and maintain proper inventory of tools.
34. Other program related duties assigned by supervisory personnel and/or Executive

Director.

Qualifications/Skills:

1. Experience and training in building and grounds maintenance highly desirable.
2. Knowledgeable of sanitation standards and guidelines highly desirable.
3. Able to lift and move heavy materials and supplies frequently.
4. Ability to handle responsibility for sanitation of center and to request assistance and guidance through appropriate channels.
5. Be computer literate with knowledge for Microsoft office programs as it pertains to your position.
6. Be eligible to work in a childcare setting.
7. Have valid First Aid and Infant/Child CPR card and keep current or obtain within 30 days of employment if applicable to position.
8. Positive role model for children; language, dress, and behavior must be appropriate to a childcare setting.
9. Show emotional stability and maturity.
10. Sensitive to cultural diversity.
11. Be able to establish an atmosphere of trust and respect with HS families, children and staff.
12. Able to adhere to strict standards of confidentiality.
13. Be able to work effectively as a member of a team.
14. Submit regular on-going medical statements signed and dated by a licensed physician or other health care professional, verifying that they are in good mental, physical and emotional health appropriate for the position hired for. Pursuant to State of Colorado
Rules Regulating Child Care Centers and HS Performance Standards.

15. Demonstrate the highest standard of integrity, truthfulness, honesty and ethics.
16. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

All Child Development Services employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or receive an approved exemption and participate in weekly testing.
