VI Next lab develops complex genetically modified mouse models with the goal of understanding basic biology, modeling human disease, and selecting for antibody-based drugs. We have an open position for a qualified individual with a can-do attitude, to facilitate the day-to-day operations of a large, shared laboratory space.

As a Lab Operations Associate, a typical day might include:

  • Managing inventory which includes consumables, chemicals, office supplies, etc., and working with vendors to ensure continuity in supply chain

  • Managing equipment and facility which consists of communicating with various departments and contractors to purchase, service, and retire equipment, committing to maximizing efficiency in the use of finite lab resources

  • Managing information including organizing servers, data files, meeting minutes, scientific sample management

  • Committing to organization and operations of the physical space and standardization of lab processes

  • Supporting new personnel through the onboarding process, including proper training, gaining access to facilities and software, supplied with legacy data to understand the projects in the group, and provided with any other resources they might need.

  • Enforcing lab safety and operational policies

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must have a minimum of bachelor’s degree in biology or closely related field with 2+ years of lab experience. Experience in an academic lab is highly desirable but not required. An ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot independently is also needed.
