Laboratory TechnicianJob Overview
The role of the Laboratory Technician will be responsible for supporting the preparation and execution of ethanol extraction and refinement process from end to end, as well as adhering to a strict cleaning and maintenance schedule. This position will report to the Hemp Farm Manager. This position is full time, hours may vary and may include weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities and Duties

• Carry out all extraction and extract processing manufacturing procedures in a safe and efficient manner, complying with Grasslands/SOJE extraction-related SOP’s
• Record and monitor process conditions and batch tracking to ensure compliance to standard
• operating procedures
• Maintain a safe and organized work space; perform continuous safety checks on machines and equipment (which includes tools); promptly notify the Hemp Farm Manager of maintenance needs
• Operation and maintenance of extraction equipment, such as valves, pumps, and centrifuges, chillers, etc.
• Assists in the processing and post processing activities and the setup, breakdown, and regular operation of the extraction facility as needed
• Receive and communicate instructions, job assignments and updates verbally and non-verbally from Farm Manager, fellow technicians, instructive lists, SOP, email, and interpret work orders to properly prioritize material for extraction and processing
• Must follow all applicable policies, procedures and guidelines, this includes the safe and proper operation of any/all applicable machinery, instrumentation, and equipment
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or similar field preferred
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working in a manufacturing facility or setting preferred
• Experience working in a plant based extraction facility preferred
• Strong recordkeeping skills
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Self starter and ability to work independently
• Must be highly confidential

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to move and lift heavy objects
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time
• Mechanically inclined
• Ability to work in a dusty/dirty and noisy environment and wear protective gear correctly
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to operate available extraction equipment
• Strong mathematical skills to formulate and properly produce extracts in a safe manner
