Laundry Attendant Job at Genacross Lutheran Service Wolf Creek
Basic Purpose:
Responsible for laundering facility and resident linen and clothes in order to provide a clean and safe environment for residents and staff.
The following lists of duties are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by the incumbent. It is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of duties performed by the incumbent.
I. Primary Duties:
- Collect and sort laundry and linen for facility and residents in accordance with applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations and our established policies and procedures.
- Wash, dry and fold laundry for facility and residents.
- Label resident clothing appropriately to ensure accurate redistribution.
- Completes necessary forms, reports, etc. in order to ensure smooth operations of the environmental services in accordance with applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations and our established policies and procedures.
- Assists in the inventory and storage process of incoming supplies, etc. and works to maintain accuracy and organization in this process within applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations and our established policies and procedures.
- Addresses resident and family concerns in a professional manner and reports those concerns to the Director of Environmental Services.
- Reports allegations of abuse/neglect and reports, as appropriate, to proper organization leadership.
- Reports hazardous incidents, including but not limited to, injuries, equipment, etc. to the appropriate Manager/Supervisor.
- Implements and follows disaster plans in the event of an emergency.
- Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as determined by the Director of Environmental Services.
- Maximizes the stewardship of all resources.

III. Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Prior experience working in a long-term care setting and with a high-volume food production setting preferred.Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to learn new software application as required by the position.
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with senior executives, managers, supervisors and direct care staff, as well as residents, families and physicians.
- Understands directions; communicates and responds to inquiries promptly.
IV. Miscellaneous Details:
- Physical demands are light in nature and may require lifting up to 50 pounds; sitting, reaching, handling, fingering, talking, hearing and seeing.
- Working conditions are inside in well-lighted, well-ventilated areas.
- The principal contacts for this position will include Ministry Support staff, all levels of corporate and facility staff, outside vendors, and business representatives.

Responsible for the delivery of quality, resident-centered services in short-term and long-term care, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and government regulatory agencies.

- Provide quality personal care to ensure that residents are comfortable and are provided with the highest quality of care. Adheres to all guidelines learned through the STNA training program and state guidelines as well as complies with the Home’s policies and procedures.
- Complete administrative requirements to ensure that proper documentation is maintained. Completes paperwork, medical forms, charting and all required documentation as a part of the resident care process and the transition of care process.
- Assists the residents during the admissions, transfer and discharge process to provide ongoing quality care and assurance during transition periods.
- Follow care plan functions to meet the specific needs of each resident. Focus on resident’s individualized needs and encourage resident’s ability to make personal choices.
- Reports allegations of abuse/neglect and reports, as appropriate, to proper organization leadership.
- Reports hazardous incidents, including but not limited to, injuries, equipment, etc. to the appropriate Manager/Supervisor.
- Accepts direction of charge nurse in relation to direct resident care.
- Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as determined by the Director of Nursing.
- Maximizes the stewardship of all resources.

- One to two years experience in long-term care setting preferred.
- Familiarity with basic computer skills. Ability to learn new software applications as required by the position.
