The primary responsibility of the Lead Project Scheduler is to ensure the technical integrity of the project schedule is in compliance with the project scope, contract schedule milestones, specifications, and accepted MHS best practices. This includes integrating resource requirements (defined by the budget) into the project schedule and forecasting resource utilization within the project and across the MHS departments, contributing to the portfolio approach to the MHS workload.
Job Functions:
  • Coordinate scheduling elements of ProWorks and the Project Execution Plan, leveraging MHS and industry best practices as applicable, during the execution phase of the project.
  • Participate in all training required for office and project site as relates to the scheduling role.
  • Lead the planning and development of the project schedule in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Facilitate the Interactive Planning Session with assistance from the Project Manager or Project Engineer (depending on the schedule type).
  • Use project planning documents (e.g. the Project Execution Plan) and output from the interactive planning process as the basis for developing the project schedule.
  • Obtain input from all participants on the project (as required), including the disciplines/functions, construction management and the Customer, to support the development of a baseline schedule. Include subcontractors and suppliers (once identified) input in the schedule update process and in reporting progress.
  • Provide timely schedule analysis and reporting (including project performance – CPI, SPI) to support the Project Manager and Project Team.
  • Provide timeline resource budgeting and forecasting based on the Performance Budget.
  • Evaluate schedule alternatives to support changes in the project.
  • Work at the direction of the Project Manager to develop, baseline, maintain, analyze, and report on the integrated project schedule, with oversight by the Master Scheduler / Project Controls Manager to ensure consistency in scheduling philosophy and technique.
  • Set up project access rights in ProWorks and other project systems for access by the Project Team.
  • Provide feedback to the Project Manager on the performance of the Project Team in utilization of, and participation in, the functional elements of the project schedule.
  • Initiate and maintain the project RAIL (ProWorks) and issues log (BIM360).
  • Monitor and address changes to the scope of work for impact to the project schedule and update the project schedule once changes are approved.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s in a related field such as planning, engineering, business administration, finance preferred relevant work experience may offset degree
  • Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience working with project scheduling (MS Project), cost estimating, performance tracking and other project controls functions in a capital project environment.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of standard critical path method (CPM) scheduling principles and practices.
  • General understanding of project management principles in a capital project environment.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated skills using MS Project for scheduling.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge and skills preparing project reports
  • Ability to be responsive to shifting priorities and demands.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills with ability to lead meetings and give presentations.
TRAVEL: Generally speaking, some travel is required for this role which includes visits to project sites, Customers’ offices, Subcontractors, Suppliers, and other MHS facilities. This can be up to 30-40% of the time and will fluctuate based on the requirements on the assigned project(s).
