The Disney Parks Experiences and Products (DPEP) Technology team combines custom technology solutions with creativity to produce robust applications that enhance all aspects of the guest experience. As part of this role, this Engineer will also be responsible for configuration management and sustaining engineering of platforms for both the embedded devices and downstream services that the devices will interact with. Responsibilities:
- Creating and maintaining embedded build systems for multiple architectures.
- Creating internal tooling for rapid iteration of embedded product development and deployment.
- Design and execution of cloud environment application stacks, build systems, and environments.
- Candidate will be expected to play multiple critical roles for DPEP regarding creation, implementation, and support of new IoT and RF installation frameworks and downstream systems.
- Candidate will work with software engineers on the Connected Parks and Products team to create recommendations, implement automated provisioning workflows, and consult on cloud service architecture.
- Candidate will provide design requirements, implementation plans, and coordinate execution between multiple organizations at The Walt Disney Company for new designs as well as retrofitting existing systems.
- Troubleshoot and navigate network issues at multiple layers with multiple teams managing the network equipment and firewalls between both on-prem and cloud spaces. As well as Troubleshoot these issues as part of installation and support as well as consult on new designs.
- Candidate should understand and advise on basic topics from multiple disciplines of engineering, guidance, development, and assign specific job tasks to more junior engineers after creating the project plans.
- Understanding of AWS and custom linux kernels.
- Yocto linux, or other custom linux system builds is desired. (Angstrom, Greengrass.)
- Candidate should have good verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work independently as a self-starter, utilize good time management skills, and function well within a diverse team.
Qualifications:
Intermediate experience with electrical or computer engineering concepts
–Advanced experience with linux based and embedded applications, Micro-service Architectures and design patterns
- Knowledge of Cloud/SaaS/PaaS preferably AWS Understanding of IoT and Edge Devices Systems Engineering and support experience Knowledge / experience with Bluetooth Hands on experience with hardware and installations
- Physical infrastructure architecture and design of distributed systems Advanced network troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrated strong communication, design skills, both verbal and written Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Ability to be highly flexible to quickly changing business needs and new technologies ,follow existing programming and style guidelines to maintain consistent quality of code.
- Ability to solve complex problems involving multiple systems, to process and build proof of concepts using new technology to assist in estimations
Required Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering Field.
