Summary: The Arc of Union County, Inc. is a non-profit, 501c(3) organization headquartered in Springfield, NJ, dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Under the direction of the supervising Director or designate, this position is responsible for the implementation and coordination of a comprehensive employee skills and professional development program. The incumbent will assist in implementing all Arc, DDD, and other required trainings to Arc employees in accord with requirements. The Trainer will assess overall organization training and education needs on an ongoing basis and provide recommendations/proposals to the Director, Training and Compliance to meet agency needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all administrative documentation and record keeping required to effectively monitor staff training schedules.
  • The position requires availability on evenings and weekends. Training may be conducted at The Arc of Union County or at external sites as assigned or required.
  • This position will assist in assuring compliance with the training requirements as outlined by licensing and accreditation standards, federal mandates, State requirements and organizational policies (e.g. CARF, DHS, DDD, Medicaid) through various audit reviews and record checks of trainings completed by employees.
  • Assure that all required training programs are conducted in accord with State defined requirements and within agency guidelines.
  • Assist with monitoring training compliance of all staff and create reports of upcoming training needs to avoid staff not being compliant with required new-hire and re-certifications.
  • Participate in ongoing needs assessment processes to identify emerging staff development needs and methodology to meet those identified needs for all levels of staff.
  • Enact the system of notification of training program schedules, attendance, participant grades and certificates to all appropriate parties including trainees, provider agencies and Arc management as required.
  • Participate in the design and development of training curricula, which fosters the delivery of quality service to agency service recipients and enhances staff skills.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate in a hands-on manner all techniques and methods used in the various training programs assigned.
  • Maintain current certifications as applicable to train certain required courses, including but not limited to Crisis Management, CPR, and Standard First Aid.
  • Offer on-going training requirements on a rotational basis as assigned by the Director, Training and Compliance.
  • Assure the completion of all required documentation related to training and development including statistical records of all training provided.
  • Assure that all training program related supplies, equipment and materials are available in good condition, up to date and replenished as necessary.
  • Participate in training committee activities with other service provider trainers.
  • Maintain a positive cooperative relationship with all components of the statewide and regional training network, Red Cross, and with all Arc of Union County staff and management.
  • Document training records for all agency staff through utilization of the electronic records management system employed by the Agency and by the State of NJ.
  • Participate in the coordination and facilitation all Self Advocacy meetings and events.
  • Sit as a committee member for any and all committee activities as assigned by the supervising Director.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Level degree in related field preferred.
  • Must have experience in conducting trainings for entry level and supervisory level staff.
  • Experience in programs serving persons with developmental disabilities preferred. Familiarity with adult learning theory and process helpful.
  • Experience providing training opportunities in-person and virtually through a Learning Management System or other web-based tool strongly preferred. Experience working with and managing a Learning Management System (LMS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of DDD trainings and course content necessary. Must have superior presentation and communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 per year
