We are seeking a
Legal Assistant in our Patent department for our Salt Lake City office. For this role, patent experience is preferred but not required. As a valued team member, you will provide legal administrative support in a dynamic environment to attorneys and paralegals. Do you deftly handle multiple tasks? In this role, you will:
- Provide support to a combination of several timekeepers which may include partners, associates and paralegals.
- Perform document production, including crafting, revising and editing documents, and finalizing format and style in compliance with appropriate requirements.
- Prepare documents for mailing, scanning, and faxing.
- Manage files and client contact databases, using strong organizational skills.
- Assist with reviewing daily docket and coordinate with attorneys and paralegals on upcoming dates and deadlines for filings.
- Assist timekeepers with time entries for tracking of attorneys’ and paralegals’ billable hours.
- Work with document management system, docket system, and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office records.
- Assist with reporting USPTO correspondence to clients and prepare information disclosure statements.
- Support other secretaries and attorneys as needed.
- May be requested to perform other duties not mentioned above.
What we’re looking for:
- At least 4 years of legal assistant experience; patent experience preferred but not required.
- Strong proofreading and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Strong customer service focus and skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time and perform well in stressful situations.
- Ability to use good judgment in solving problems and resolving conflict.
- Excellent attendance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Ability to prioritize work and flexibility with schedule (overtime may be required).
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office electronic filing system.
- Knowledge of patent/trademark databases and software.
