Job Description:

NCGA is seeking a Legislative Assistant in our Washington, D.C. office. The Legislative Assistant will provide overall support to policy and policy communications staff and office manager/Executive Assistant to the Executive Vice President. This position will assist the Senior Director, Public Policy and the work of the Risk Management Action Team, which is responsible for creation of internal policy development concerning various grower risk management tools. Additionally, this role will assist the broader public policy and communications team as requested on activities such as tracking legislation, supporting PAC administration and logistics, etc. The Legislative Assistant will be on the front lines of communication with our grower members and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Senior Director, Public Policy on meeting coordination, logistics, and team member communications for Action Team Meetings.
  • Support Senior Director, Public Policy with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Support the broader policy staff as needed on issues such as trade, transportation, ethanol, conservation, biotechnology, agriculture research, stewardship, etc.
  • Serve as customer service representative of the association to external customers (including grower members), and staff.
  • Perform administrative functions for the staff, handle mail, type correspondence, and assist as needed to ensure the Washington office runs exceptionally

  • Interest in agriculture/agriculture policy

Reports to:

Director Washington Office . Role also entails daily working relationship with Senior Director, Public Policy, and other staff as needed.
