Library Archivist - LB9996 Job at Stetson University
Reporting directly to the Library Dean, the Archivist is responsible for all aspects of the library’s University Archives and Special Collections, both in tangible and online formats. The successful candidate must have the ability to combine independent work with highly-developed organizational skills; the ability to complete short-term tasks efficiently and long-term tasks with persistence.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the functioning of Archives and Special Collections, including accessioning, processing, maintaining, and updating archival material into both tangible and online files using controlled vocabulary and best archival practices.
- Arranges and describes collections according to professional standards, including creating DACS-compliant finding aids.
- Trains, supervises, and evaluates student assistants assigned to Archives and Special Collections.
- Applies records retention standards in accordance with University policies and best archival practices, using standard Archives software.
- Creates metadata and uploads material into the Digital Archives (ContentDm).
- Practices preservation to ensure long-term viability and appropriate storage of material.
- Provides research services for the University community, as well as the surrounding public community, researchers, historians, and genealogists. Supports academic programs and curriculum upon request, including speaking to classes at the request of professors.
- Promotes the Archives and Special Collections through marketing, social media, and exhibits, as well as through community public speaking events (for both on- and off-campus groups).
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Library Dean.

Required Experience
- Required: Master’s degree in Library/Information Science with Archives work or certification; or Master’s degree in Archival Studies; or the equivalent graduate education
