The Library Building Monitor is a part-time, temporary position. The successful candidate will be available to work scheduled shifts (evenings up to 10 or 11pm, and/or weekends), and to fill in on short notice when possible.

1. Building Related Duties:

  • Open and/or close the library building
  • Enforce policies, including COVID-19 related campus and New York State mandates
  • Report building maintenance needs


2. Circulation Related Duties:

  • Support the work of Student Library Assistants
  • Staff circulation desk as needed
    • Assist individuals with directional questions and provide general customer service
    • Use Library Management System to check items in and out, locate materials, and do basic searching
    • Process reserve and interlibrary loan items
    • Refer non-library questions to the appropriate IT Help Desk, Learning Center, Distance Learning, or Mario Café personnel
    • Manage study room reservations


3. Other reasonable duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • Outstanding communication skills appropriate to a post-secondary education environment.
  • Extraordinary commitment to public service.
