Who we are:

The Tuxedo Club is a private equity country club located within the gated community of Tuxedo Park, NY (Orange County). We offer our membership a top rated 18-hole golf course, five racquet sport venues, fitness center, boating, swimming pool, ice rink, three dining outlets & catering facilities. The Tuxedo Club was established in 1886 & employs approximately 50 full-time year-round employees & 120 seasonal employees.

The candidate we are looking for:

As a Line Cook II you have a strong passion for cooking food, technique, & an eagerness to learn. The Cook, works in collaboration with the Executive Chef, will work closely with the Kitchen management team to drive service each day & inspire team members to work together & hold one another accountable. The Line Cook will maintain compliance with DOH standards, cleanliness, efficiency & overall excellence. Their role could also include administrative work, opening or closing duties, or stepping in to needed roles in the various F&B outlets in the Club as business demands. The Line Cook will employ their culinary skills in order to play a critical role in maintaining & enhancing our members & guests' satisfaction. The ideal candidate is friendly, motivated, & devoted to becoming an integral member of a team that values hard work & attention to detail.

The role:

This is a field-based role where 100% of your working time will be spent at The Tuxedo Club.

  • Display a working knowledge of all ingredients & preparation used on the menu
  • Consistently ensure that station is prepped, seasoned & stocked throughout service & the overall station remains clean & organized
  • Effectively participates in a professionally run service period, ensuring excellence in cooking, timing, plate assembly & communication
  • Promote teamwork & excellence amongst the kitchen team
  • Demonstrate an eagerness to refine techniques & a desire to continually learn & grow
  • Assist Chef in Completion of Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Service
  • Preps station & replenishes with all of its components having a par stock
  • Organize & consolidate prep, making notice of needs & notifying supervisor
  • Assist in putting away of all orders properly
  • Utilizing prep & food, for service, specials, buffets & family meal
  • Cleaning of station, kitchen, & all its associated parts as directed by Chef
  • Sanitation of station & kitchen to be held to serve safe standards
  • Works various buffet stations as needed for specials events including:
    • Grills, Sautee, breakfast & carving stations
  • Assist dishwashers in organizing & cleaning of kitchen as needed
  • Has a positive work ethic & professional approach with coworkers & customers
  • Have a basic knowledge of common ingredients & retain new knowledge of ingredients used in our cuisine & most specifically in mise en place items assigned to the prep list
  • Checks in deliveries & ensures they are properly stored
  • Lead by example, setting a tone of teamwork, collaboration & mutual respect
  • Works with Executive Chef, Sous Chef & cooks to establish & maintain efficiency & consistency
  • Supports the team in whatever capacity is necessary to ensure smooth service & operations
  • Effectively prepares all required dishes in a timely manner for specific service period
  • Consistently ensure that station mise en place is excellently prepped, seasoned, & prepared to the standards taught by restaurant's culinary leaders by the beginning of service
  • Maintains a sound & inquisitive working knowledge of common seasonal ingredients & retains new knowledge of ingredients used in our cuisine
  • Participates in a professionally run service period, restocking stations as needed & performing last minute or special-order prep needs with a calm sense of urgency
  • Communicates effectively & hospitably with all teams throughout the day & throughout service
  • Maintains an orderly & neat work area displaying calm professionalism to promote food quality & reduce waste
  • Follows all recipes, portioning, proper storage & FIFO to minimize waste
  • Ensure DOL/Health Department compliance as it pertains to the operation
  • Is punctual for shifts & has proper uniform including apron, chef's jacket, pants, & hat


Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • BS degree in Culinary science or related certificate preferred
  • Basic knowledge of DOH regulations
  • Minimum 1 year kitchen experience
  • Kitchen Management is preferred
  • Culinary education preferred
  • Knowledge of a second language is a plus
  • Positive attitude & excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work varied shifts which include weekdays, evenings, weekends & holidays

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, use hands & fingers, reach with hands & arms, talk &/or hear
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, & depth perception
  • Employees must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs multiple times per day, & push a cart weighing up to 100lbs
  • Expect to be on their feet for up to 6 hours at a time
  • Must practice proper body mechanics & use appropriate personal protective equipment to avoid injury
