Loading Staff Job at Smith Gardens, Inc.
Smith Gardens, the largest annual and perennial grower in the Pacific Northwest, has an exciting opportunity for Loading Staff to join our team at our Bellingham, WA site.
Smith Gardens is a wholesale nursery company that is headquartered in Bellingham, Washington, and has been family owned for over 100 years with facilities in three states.
The Bellingham facility, established in 1901, is the original site of Smith Gardens. The site sits on 40 acres of greenhouse and outside growing area.
JOB SUMMARY: Load and unload product from trucks. Work recycled material returned to site.
JOB FUNCTION:
- Prepare individual orders in preparation for loading into trucks
- Check order manifests for missing pots, flats, or signs
- Load product onto truck utilizing trailer lift-gate or forklift
- Make sure racks are secured in the trailers for safe movement to store location
- Unload product from other facilities
- Unload empty racks and flats off trucks when they return and move racks into areas to be used by Staging or in designated area outside.
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Flexibility to assist other departments when needed
- Operate mobile equipment
- Conduct yourself with high level integrity, adhering to Company standards and values

- With proper training may be asked to drive mobile equipment
- Basic English
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:
- Work long hours as needed. Including weekends and holidays.
- Continuously walk, stand, squat, kneel (and remain working below knee-level) as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
- Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly in an environment that is often hot.
WAGE RANGE: $17.50-$18.00
