The Loan Processor assists in the loan process by verifying information in all loan files, ordering documents needed to complete the files and updating information on the computer system. Responsible for ensuring all supporting loan documents are in file and signed correctly.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews incoming documents to assure complete, accurate information and update information on a computer system. Requests and verifies the accuracy of incoming data and coordinates any problems/discrepancies with borrowers and loan originators.
- Interacts with customers to answer questions on the loan qualification process, sets appointments with the loan officer, and promotes all services available at the company.
- Reviews closing documents for accuracy and audits closed loans, including HELOCs.
- Updates computer system based on loan decisions made by the underwriter. Prepares commitment letters or adverse action letters as needed.
- Completes instruction forms for closing and completing data entry for loans; reviews closing documents prepared by title office and verify final loan terms.
- Receives and follows up on outstanding documentation.
- Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Experience
Two years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.
Must have excellent attention to detail.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
High school degree or GED required.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations, and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports, and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature are a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating, and/or advising others on matters of significance.
Physical Requirements
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 5 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
