Machine Operator / Food Manufacturing Job at Agente Staffing
Local food manufacturing company with over 30 years being the world leader in the production of grain based extruded intermediates is hiring for several new positions for their second local location on the south side of Kankakee! This is an exciting opportunity with a company that believes in building excellent teams!
The starting pay is $16/hour; after completion of 90 day probation and hiring process pay is
- This is a Temp-to-Perm Position (typically 90 days temp-to-perm period to considered for permanent position)
- This is a 24/7 production plant- Your weekly schedule will provide 2 days off in a row, but those days will differ from week to week.
Currently all shifts are 12 hour shifts.
- There is a considerable amount of overtime with these positions, employees should expect to work 60-68 hours weekly.
Position Summary
Sets up and operates equipment that is used in the manufacturing of food products. Operates and monitors processing equipment and raw material handling systems and/or and finished product for conformance to specifications. Maintains safe and sanitary conditions of the production area.
Responsibilities
- Operates food extrusion, mix plant, or packaging equipment at required parameters including starting and stopping equipment under normal and emergency situations.
- Maintains the mixers, packaging machines, or extruders and dryers at the established parameters to produce product to customer specification.
- Monitors, adjusts and records product measurements to meet specifications. Alert Supervisor and maintenance personnel of any problems that may arise.
- Make machine adjustments as necessary to produce products that meet company/customer specifications.
- Monitors the production equipment for proper operating parameters, and possible failures.
- Make sure all materials are loaded into the machine in a quick, efficient manner so that downtime is limited.
- Count and record rejected products and scrap material.
- Maintains Quality Control paperwork as specified.
- Complete production reports.
- Keep the machine and work area clean during your shift.
- Performs all other miscellaneous duties as directed by Management.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year of experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read, write and interpret documents.
- Basic math skills required
- Must have basic computer skills / knowledge
- Ability to communicate read and write in English in order to understand and follow work, GMP and safety instructions.
- Must be able to work any day and/or shift including weekends and holidays.
- Must have physical ability and strength to perform assigned tasks.
- Have the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes that occur on the production line.
- Must be able to communicate and work in a team environment.
- General knowledge of mechanical items.
- Must be able to withstand both hot and cold atmosphere depending on weather conditions.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and food particles.
