MACHINING SPECIALIST | 2ND SHIFT (Schedule: Four 10-hour Days) Job at Weiler
SUMMARY
Sets up and operates computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment. Equipment may include, but is not limited to, CNC Machining Centers, CNC Lathes, CNC Press Brakes and Laser Plate Cut equipment. Can effectively edit and prove out new programs and can cooperatively troubleshoot with various personnel to resolve issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reads and interprets blueprints and work orders, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and set-up requirements.
- Selects proper fixtures, tooling, accessories, and materials to be completed.
- Builds tooling and work-holding devices, with the ability to properly locate in the machine.
- Edits and proves out new programs for product completion, adjusting as needed to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Calculates, sets, and monitors controls to produce quality parts in the most efficient manner.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications utilizing measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
- Confers with management, production personnel, quality personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Performs and documents level 1 TPMs and level 2 TPMs, as required.
- Works in a safe manner at all times, following all safety guidelines.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). 2 years’ related experience in a manufacturing environment operating CNC equipment and/or additional related education preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS Basic commands such as setting tabs, opening, closing files and simple formulas. Prior experience with a computer is required. AutoCad, Solid Works, Excel and Intuitive are used to complete the tasks of the job.
