SUMMARY

The Mailroom Operations Specialist will support the Mailroom Facilities at Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide Mailroom services for incoming and outgoing mail, including special mail packaging and delivery
  • Pick up incoming U.S. Postal Service mail at FinCEN’s Vienna post office box.
  • Drive senior executives from FinCEN and Treasury to U.S. Treasury offices in downtown Washington DC. Wait for them or return later in the day to bring them back to FinCEN in Vienna.
  • Receive deliveries from courier services like UPS and FedEx, and accept and sign for certified and registered mail.
  • X-ray, sort, and distribute all incoming to internal FinCEN mail stops.
  • Receive outgoing mail and packages from FinCEN personnel, meter outgoing U.S. Postal Service mail, and prepare outgoing courier packages for pick up by the current Federal service provider (currently UPS).
  • Open and identify destination of those items not bearing a specific or identifiable name or office identification after being x-rayed and appearing to be safe.
  • Sort and distribute all mail the same day received.
  • Incoming express packages (e.g., FedEx, UPS), shall be sorted and distributed within 2 hours of receipt.
  • Process undeliverable mail according to Postal Regulations
  • Lift heavy packages weighing as much as 50 pounds each
  • Assures that incoming mail is accurately sorted and delivered promptly.
  • Resolve questions of where mail should go when the recipient is unclear.
  • Provides for special pick-ups of mail and packages by individuals performing these duties.
  • X-ray incoming mail and packages to detect possible improper or dangerous contents. Provides outgoing mail service by official mail.
  • Assists customers in packaging and determining weight and cost of packages. Arranges for special deliveries (e.g. UPS, registered and or certified mail).
  • Collect the newspapers (Washington Post, Financial Times, Washington Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and the American Banker) for the FinCEN from the front lobby of 2070 Chain Bridge Road, Vienna, VA 22182 and deliver them to the appropriate sections.

  • Serves as backup to the position responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating and executing the full array of motor vehicle operation services for FinCEN to include assuring motor vehicle support for the Director, key management officials, and visitors;

  • As needed, operates vehicles to provide chauffeur or passenger transport services and to deliver or pick up supplies.
  • Currently, FinCEN staff centrally schedule approximately 20 conference rooms in the Vienna and DC space. FinCEN uses Meeting Room Manager to schedule these conference rooms. Contractor personnel shall assist in conference room scheduling as needed. Furniture in these rooms shall be rearranged on occasion as well.
  • Based on conference room configuration requests received from FinCEN employees or from the COR or Facilities Specialists, Contractor personnel shall arrange the furniture as, requested.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

This position will not have supervisory authority.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Secret Clearance Preferred
  • High School Graduate
  • Military supply or logistics experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Basic hands-on experience in Mail Room services
  • Knowledge of the Washington Metropolitan area roads and highways
  • Safe driving record
  • Two years general experience in the aforementioned areas of Mail Services for the government
  • Ability to communicate via written and oral means.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with little to no supervision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The duties of this position are primarily performed in a climate-controlled office environment and in a government vehicle transporting mail and passengers.

Cherokee Federal has suspended it’s COVID mandate. However, it’s important to note that Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently not subject to enforcement by the Federal government. Therefore, Cherokee Federal has suspended application of the mandate and continues to monitor the government’s guidance on administration of any vaccine requirement.
