Training and/or expertise qualifying the individual to operate and maintain the electrical and mechanical systems within the nursing center.

Safety and Sanitation

? Follows established safety policies and procedures

? Attends and participates in scheduled in-service training, educational classes and meetings

? Attends and participates in Circle of Care classes Maintenance Assistant Responsibilities

? Lubricates and cleans parts of electrical and mechanical equipment as assigned; Reports mechanical problems to the Maintenance Technician.

? Checks and replaces light bulbs and exit light bulbs.

? Cleans lint, dust and dirt from dryers, vents, and heat registers in patient rooms and other areas.

? Hoses out garbage cans.

? Keeps ground cleared of debris; Collects and disposes of leaves and refuse in keeping with local code.

? Assists in performing fire drills.

? Washes windows and screens outside the building as assigned.

? Assists with lubricating potty chairs, wheelchairs, shower chairs, wheeled geri-chairs, drug carts, etc.

? Works jointly with housekeeping department personnel to service floors, all patient rooms, baths, lounges, nurses stations, and offices, as assigned.

? Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.
