- Must possess strong mechanical abilities and exhibit eagerness to learn new technology
- Must be able to conform to all safety laws, rules and codes
- Must be able to work up to heights of 40+ feet from ladders and scaffolding
- Strong leadership and team building skills. Ability to work with people at all levels and supervise staff
- Must possess skills/training necessary to perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs
- Must possess strong public relations skills

- Must possess a valid forklift operator's license or be able to obtain a fork lift operator's license within 90 days of hire
- Must be able to safely operate a fork lift
- Communicate and work harmoniously and effectively with the custodial staff, administrative team, building principal, staff, students, parents, community members and others as required
- Provide training and instruction to custodial staff as required
- Responsible for ordering of cleaning supplies
- Maintenance of all custodial equipment, lawnmower, snow blowers, etc., in safe working order
- Plan, organize, coordinate, supervise, evaluate and motivate the custodial employees
- Assist in assigning work schedules and assume responsibility for the clean, orderly, safe condition of the district facilities
- Actively participate in the Quality Improvement Process
- Candidates' successful work experience must demonstrate pride in their work and possess a positive attitude regarding their employment with the Grand Blanc Community School District
- Willingness to be on-call for emergencies at all times
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Designee
- Must have and maintain a nearly perfect attendance record
- Must be neat in work habits and in appearance
- Snow removal, mowing lawns and trimming around buildings, trees, etc., on respective campus. Operation of power equipment related to the job function
- Must be flexible and available for emergency situations at all times
- Assignments may include working any shift, and will include being the sole person on duty during day or night shifts. This assignment includes the routine inspection of the building and mechanical equipment, making repairs if possible and reporting to the proper authorities anything of an unsuitable nature
- Lift and move heavy material/equipment when necessary (without restrictions required)
- Work from scaffolds for cleaning operations, lamp replacement and minor repairs
- Do special set-ups for school and community functions
- Must have ability to perform the following: Boilers operation and chemical testing; HVAC operation, maintenance and record keeping; minor electrical, plumbing, painting, roofing and other miscellaneous repairs
- High school graduation and equivalent necessary however, post high-school education preferred
- Knowledge and experience in the cleaning and maintaining of buildings, (inside and out) a necessity
- Candidate's successful work experience must demonstrate pride in their work and possess a positive attitude regarding their employment with Grand Blanc Community Schools
- The ability to work alone, observing and performing custodial needs throughout the building using one's own initiative is a must.
