The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a dynamic Maintenance Working Foreman to participate in the upkeep, maintenance, repair and/or alteration of state buildings and related structures at the Brockton Multi Service Center (BMSC).
Please Note: This position is 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive):
- Oversees and participates in the work, maintenance and repair of the facility and related structure at BMSC and state operated group living environments.
- Maintains records and prepares reports to provide information concerning work progress, work completed, costs, problems encountered, equipment and materials used, and to make recommendations concerning assigned activities.
- Oversees and participates in capital improvements, preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Coordinate/participate in ice and snow removal
- Procures contractors to perform essential building maintenance at the facility by assessing building condition and going through the contractor procurement process.
Required Qualifications:
- At least two years of full-time, or equivalent part- time, experience in building maintenance, repair and/or construction or in a building construction trade.
- MA Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the type’s safety practices and procedures followed in building maintenance and repair work.
- Skills in using small hand tools, such as pliers, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as plans, specifications, blueprints, drawings, job layouts and schematics.
- Knowledge of the standard preventive maintenance procedures followed in connection with building structures.
- Ability to supervise, including planning and assigning work according to the nature of the job to be accomplished, the determining subordinates’ training need for disciplinary action and either recommending or initiating disciplinary action.
- Certification or licensure as a pesticide applicator in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Massachusetts Pesticide Board of the Department of Food and Agriculture

About BMSC: The Brockton Multi Service Center provides comprehensive services to mentally ill adults and children. Programs include Outpatient, Case Management, ACCS, and PACT team. The Brockton Multi Service Center is a Joint Commission certified facility.
