Maintenance Lead Technician

Position General Description

Under the direct supervision of the Production or Processing Supervisor, the Maintenance Lead will serve as the liaison between supervision and the hourly maintenance workforce and is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of maintenance teams responsible for preventative maintenance, as well as mechanical and electrical repair of equipment.

Although the supervisor will listen to and respect the opinions of the Team Lead, administration of formal discipline is not in the scope of this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees work of assigned maintenance employees.
  • Addresses minor discipline problems or performance issues with team members; refers more serious cases to Supervisor/Management.
  • Assists with the training and orientation for new maintenance team members.
  • Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
  • Works with Supervisor and/or Maintenance Engineer to plan work priorities, obtain necessary supplies, and assess skills needed to complete tasks.
  • Collaborates with team members to discuss upcoming work assignments; delegates assignments based on team member’s skills and experience.
  • Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed safely, effectively, and efficiently.
  • Assists team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments.
  • Inspects work performed by team members.
  • Works with team members to ensure accurate recording of time, materials, and other resources
  • Works with Supervisor, Maintenance Engineers, and/or Department Managers to coordinate topics for meetings/discussions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Satisfactory work record including performance (e.g. rules violations/discipline, attendance, etc.) and the successful completion of Asset Profiles assessment. Extensive knowledge of building systems/equipment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to identify issues and to determine repairs that are needed.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software as needed to complete reports, logs, and inventory.

Evaluation Areas Will Be: Practical learning, initiative, job fit motivation, work standards, safety awareness, oral communication, work record including performance (e.g. rules violations/discipline, attendance, etc.). Ability to qualify on all jobs to relieve and must be forklift licensed.
