Maintenance Mechanic
Department: CA Distribution
Location: Whittier, CA
The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Manager. This member of the Distribution Center team performs facility and conveyor system maintenance. The individual must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment and safely complete tasks in a timely manner.
Major Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Partner with operations, and IT regarding PNA (Print & Apply) and scanner system issues
- Help train maintenance team on PNA equipment
- Track belts, trouble shoot motors, reducers and conveyor issues
- Conduct daily system walks and identify potential issues
- To follow all maintenance safety programs for example, lock-out/tag-out, Hot Work, Fall Protection
- Manage the documentation of repairs, PMs and projects using CMMS “Sprocket”
- Ensure that all Dematic scanners are PM’ed properly
- Monitor SortDirector system to ensure processes are running and system is behaving normally
- Trouble shoot PUT-TO-LIGHT processing issues by partnering up with the IT team
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and all other conveyor system components.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Performs general building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, painting, and mechanical.
- Design and fabricate equipment or replacement hardware to meet building needs.
Essential Skills:
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and all other related systems.
- In-depth knowledge of conveyor systems
- Able to use CMMS to track work orders & PMs
- Ability to use various types of meters and diagnostic equipment
- Experience working with GSMI or other related systems
- Capable of reading and understanding blueprints, electrical schematics, and other written directions.
- Basic computer skills.
- Proficient with manual and electric hand tools.
- MIG welding.
- Capable of operating lift equipment.
- Capable of troubleshooting any applicable building systems.
Requirements:
- 3 years of distribution center maintenance experience.
- Electrical troubleshooting on conveyor systems
- Conveyor automation experience PLC or computer base systems
- Knowledge of zebra printers and applicators
- Pick and sort director experience
- Must be able to work varied schedules and weekends, as needed.MK Distribution Center operates 24 hours.

- Able to lift up to 50 pounds – Proper lifting techniques required
