Position Summary
A Maintenance Technician Supervisor will oversee the performance of Maintenance Technicians on aircraft maintenance, ensuring all work is scheduled and performed with quality and safety. This role will follow FAA regulations and requirements to ensure our fleet can safely take flight.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee day to day performance of Maintenance Technicians and provide appropriate feedback, coaching, and discipline as needed
- Provide regular performance feedback to Maintenance Technicians, including but not limited to one-on-one meetings and annual reviews
- Assist with work schedules of the Maintenance team in partnership with the Director of Maintenance
- Take lead on assigning and prioritizing the flow of duties for the Maintenance Technicians
- Assist with the interviewing, selection, hiring, onboarding and training of new hires in the department
- Provide technical assistance to mechanics and work on Company aircraft, as required.
- Ability to operate aircraft systems, to include engine runs on Company aircraft.
- Perform duties in a safe manner while ensuring the safety of all employees.
- Interpret and comply with manufacturer Service Instructions, Service Bulletins and FAA Airworthiness Directives.
- Troubleshoot and maintain Company aircraft maintain compliance with the regulatory requirements of the FAA or the Company’s General Operations Manual / General Maintenance Manual.
- Perform aircraft towing, when needed.
- Operate and maintain aircraft support equipment including shop tools and tow-vehicles.
- Data entry in maintenance tracking program.
- Completing Work Orders and aircraft Logbooks.
- Shipping, receiving, and parts ordering.
- Download and update aircraft navigation and software programs.
- Must be flexible on schedule based on business needs
- Some travel may be required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance, Director of Maintenance Control, or other appropriate members of the Thrive Aviation Leadership Team.
Experience & Qualifications
The most successful candidate in the position will meet most, if not all, of the following criteria.
- Current A&P License required.
- 3-5 years of maintenance control experience preferred.
- A college degree with applicable focus preferred.
- Highly organized with acute attention to detail accompanying good project and time management skills.
- Expert level verbal, written, and computer skills while maintaining a professional demeanor and appearance.
- Expert-level knowledge of 14 CFR Part 135 maintenance requirements and regulations.
- Must be a team player.
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform required duties. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to three (3) hours per day and sit for up to five (5) hours per day.
- May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. to the height of 4 feet and up to 20 lbs. to a height of 7 feet.
- May be required to carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
- On occasion, must be able to lift up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp, or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs.
Work Environment
- Working knowledge of OSHA and company requirements.
- Knowledge of safe working techniques and procedures.
- Ability to plan and schedule maintenance work requirements and to direct skilled technicians in the daily performance of their duties.
- Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills with an ability to supervise a team.
- In-depth knowledge of flight line operations, aircraft/vehicle movement, and safety/hazards.
- Advanced knowledge of aircraft common and special tools and test equipment, aircraft technical orders/job guides/ publications and schematic diagrams, drawings, charts and technical publications, aircraft engine, landing gear, and flight control systems
- Some travel may be required.
