Maintenance Technician Job at Propel CS-Braddock Hills
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Manager of School Operations, the position will perform a wide variety of preventative maintenance duties and address immediate operations and/or safety concerns across multiple school locations (Braddock Hills, McKeesport, and Andrew St. High School).
This position works Monday through Friday 6:00 A.M - 2:00 P.M. Some weekends, and evenings required, as needed.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
- In house expert of general maintenance; mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water and sanitary systems.
- Perform a wide variety of general and semi-skilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames.
- Basic troubleshooting and repair of small engines and electric motors of different sizes.
- Perform a wide variety of mechanical, electrical testing and installation of new equipment as directed by supervisor.
- Prepare written materials (e.g. equipment repair status, preventive maintenance logs, activity logs for the purpose of documenting work orders and/or conveying information to inspectors and supervisor.
- Report to supervisor all unsafe acts or condition observed within the schools or support facilities.
- Request materials and/or machine parts be purchased as a part of the maintenance function; Purchase minor orders.
- Required to work at heights, crawl spaces, outside elements, etc.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all vehicles, tools, and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
- Assist the Manager of Operations with scheduling vendors and skilled tradesmen for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
- Develop effective working relationships with outside vendors; display mechanical aptitude; work under time constraints.
- Serve as a point of contact for alarm system.
- Assist and perform lead custodial duties as needed.
- Respond to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Perform additional duties assigned by manager as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school degree or GED required.
- 5 years of facility maintenance experience with proven technical problem solving abilities.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting. Certification preferred.
- Capability to climb ladders, step stools, etc.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as, vacuums, floor scrubbers, floor strippers, buffers, carpet shampooers, high pressure sprayers, and snow blowers.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 25lbs
- Ability to work cooperatively with all school personnel and perform work in accordance with Department of Education policy, regulations, and standards.
- Ability to adapt to changing work priorities.
- Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of buildings.
- Skills in using basic maintenance equipment such as hand tools, power saws, drills, lifts, etc.
- Knowledge or ability to learn about regulations and codes, sanitation and safety regulations as outlined by Department of Education Policy and Standards or as good judgment dictates.
- Must be extremely organized

Hourly Rate: 17-19/hr
