Job Description:
The Maintenance Engineer II manages campus buildings by maintaining, operating, and repairing HVAC, life safety, electrical, and plumbing systems, and performing general building maintenance to optimize equipment performance, maintain the building’s operability, and ensure the comfort and safety of occupants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate HVAC systems: Collect data, analyze performance, check efficiencies of Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Maintain HVAC systems: Maintain air filters, coils, condensers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, compressors
  • Repair HVAC systems: Calibrate equipment, recover refrigerant, troubleshoot and repair air dampers, pumps, fan coil units, VAV boxes
  • Oversee Life Safety Systems: Operate and test fire alarm panels, emergency generators, fire pumps, sprinkler systems, smoke and heat sensors
  • Maintain Electrical Systems: Troubleshoot, adjust and repair/replace lighting systems, change electrical fuses, control boards, electrical fixtures
  • Maintain Plumbing Systems: Maintain plumbing fixtures, water heaters, drains, water filters
  • Provide General Building Maintenance: Maintain door hardware, roof systems, ceiling tiles, flooring, window systems and minor wall repairs
  • Diagnose, repair, operate, and maintain HVAC systems
  • Diagnose, repair, operate, and maintain electrical switch gear, and electrical systems and emergency systems
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain Building Automation Systems, including lighting and fire systems
  • Diagnose, repair, operate, and maintain Plumbing Systems, including backflow certification
  • Design, construct, and maintain buildings, including masonry, finish carpentry, being adept at reading blueprints

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Formal training in repair of mechanical or electrical equipment
  • Six years’ experience as a skilled maintenance mechanic
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness and availability to work alternative shifts
  • Willingness and availability for snow/ice removal
  • EPA certification preferred
