SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Operations Manager, the position of Maintenance Technician I is responsible for keeping parks, recreation facilities and grounds clean and safe.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Support the general operational needs of parks and recreation.
- General cleaning of recreation centers, including general program spaces, hallways, and restrooms.
- General cleaning of pavilions, public restrooms, and grounds in park spaces.
- Removal of trash from containers and grounds, including delivery to collection areas.
- Occasional deep cleaning throughout the year, where assigned.
- Other tasks as assigned in support of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to communicate with staff and volunteers, as well as focus on safety. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must hold a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be willing to be trained in a valid current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid certification or equivalent.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to provide good and effective communication both orally and written; capacity to understand and follow oral and written orders.

- Remain alert with no lapses in consciousness.
- Must be able to easily move through all program areas and effectively communicate and actively interact with patrons.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to work independently and to be accurate, efficient, and organized.
- Stand, sit, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently.
WORK CONDITIONS
- This position requires working in internal and external environments; requires a flexible schedule to include nights and/or weekends.
- This position requires a valid driver's license.
- Successful candidate must pass a background check.
WORK SCHEDULE
Up to 1,000 hours per year.
