Compensation


Salary Range: $77,463– $114,945 (Grade F)

Responsibilities


This position is responsible for the day to day management of the paratransit eligibility certification process in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). This includes supervision of technical/professional employees and the daily contract management of contracts for applicant eligibility assessments at the 5 facilities located in each of the boroughs. Review vendor invoices and prepare the appropriate documents for vendor payment. Develop procedures to effectively maintain and manage the registration database and customer correspondence. This position is responsible for directing the Eligibility Determination Unit activities in the absence of the Director of Eligibility Determination.
Additional duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the day to day paratransit eligibility certification process in accordance with the established criteria within the American with Disabilities Act. Ensure that only those applicants requiring the service are allowed access.
  • Manage the daily activities associated with the 3 vendor contracts for eligibility assessments at facilities in each of the 5 boroughs. Ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the contract. Review and process contractor invoices in a timely manner. Train vendor staff to conduct interviews and perform the functional assessment test when evaluating eligibility. Perform routine site visits. Hold quarterly vendor meetings.
  • Manage staff who have responsibility for determining eligibility for the service and ensure that the process is completed in a timely manner using the ADA established criteria. Develop procedures to effectively maintain and manage the registration database.
  • Perform orientation and training of all new staff within the full unit. Liaison to the Labor Relations Division to resolve personnel issues for the full unit. Acts as Unit Director in the absence of the Director of the Eligibility Determination Unit (EDU).
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports detailing certification activities. Also prepare the Eligibility Determination Unit report for NYC Transit’s request for reimbursement of Paratransit expenses to the City of New York. Perform monthly quality control audit eligibility determinations.



Education and Experience


  • A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Business Administration and eight (8) years of related experience, at least three (3) years of which have been at a managerial/supervisory/administrative capacity; or
  • A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education/experience requirements.



Desired Skills


  • Experience in managing staff
  • Experience in managing multi-million dollar complex vendor contracts
  • Knowledge of ADA, particularly eligibility determination
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
