Manager of Virtual Infrastructure Job at Dakkota Integrated Systems, LLC
Key Areas of Responsibility (Answerable for the following end results)
- Manages corporate systems infrastructure including installation and configuration of new servers and storage.
- Manages virtual infrastructure and backup & recovery solution(s), ensuring proper integration with existing company computer systems.
- Ensures physical hardware (hosts/storage) have adequate capacity/redundancy to meet needs of guests.
- Consults and coordinates with I.T. Director and Corporate I.T. Manager in design, development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, goals and priorities, capital improvement and strategic planning related to information technology.
- Evaluates new and innovative technologies to determine how these can benefit the organization.
- Allocates memory and CPU to guest servers based on utilization.
- Manages storage capacity and increases volumes as needed.
- Manages warranty and replacement of all virtual infrastructure, including purchasing hardware and software.
- Updates firmware and OS patches on all hosts in a timely manner.
- Ensures backups are made per defined retention policy and assist with restores as needed.
- Assists with departmental budget and plans for technology development and deployment at the company.
- Assists with launches of new plants/directives to meet company needs; supervises I.T. employees as needed.
- Recommends and participates in the development of company policies and procedures; may serve on company planning and policy-making committees.
- Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
- Provides level 2 support for any issues related to performance of virtual guests.
- Provides level 1 support for any issues related to virtual infrastructure (hosts and storage)
- Document all activities as required.
- Adhere to all company guidelines for emergency evacuation to ensure employee safety.
- Any additional responsibility deemed necessary by management.
Limits of Authority
- Advise I.T. Director and Corporate I.T. Manager of those situations that may pose a significant risk to the program, product assurance, facilities, and employee safety or customer satisfaction results.
- Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, process & systems.
- Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process or system.
- Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through appropriate channels and verify implementation.
- Control further processing and delivery of nonconforming product until the deficiency is corrected.
- Initiate project/product RFQ’s with supporting documentation to be signed.
- Recommend hardware, software, tools or other items to be used to improve support or operation of company computer and telecommunication infrastructure.
- Monitor/administer company security systems.
- Perform any necessary actions to ensure validity, security, and integrity of company owned computer systems and data.
Basic Education, Experience and Training Requirements
- College degree in computer science, management information systems or equivalent.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Experience supporting virtualization platforms, specifically VMware vSphere
- Experience supporting Linux operating systems, specifically ESX/ESXi server.
- Experience supporting Dell SAN and enterprise hardware.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows, Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Knowledge of Azure Virtual Servers/Storage is a plus.
- Able to maintain confidential information.

- Normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer.
