ROLE SUMMARY

This Digital Portfolio and Business Operations team facilitates the alignment and oversight of the Digital projects and business as usual portfolios across various GRaDEM groups. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Portfolio and Business Operations. The Manager, Portfolio Operations is responsible for verifying that project financial commitments are consistent with corporate financial procedures and ensuring cost management records of budgets, forecasts, and expenditures are maintained for multiple projects.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide financial support and analysis for the following portfolios, WRD (Worldwide Research and Development), Support and Operations, and CASTLES Contractor Management. In addition, the manager will lead the GRaDEM capital portfolio. The role will have leadership responsibilities to ensure processes are efficient, drives accuracy, consistency across the team and have a uniformed format to communicate to each creation center.
Manager, Portfolio Operations
  • The Manager, Portfolio Operations will partner with finance to provide guidance to the GRaDEM Creations Centers, Application Support Teams and business line partners to ensure accurate execution of monthly and quarterly financial activities. They will lead the forecasting, budgeting, monthly and quarterly reporting, and variance commentary for portfolios of capital, restructuring, and OpEx projects with their assigned creation centers.
  • The Manager, Portfolio Operations will also have Capital Project month and quarter end coordination responsibility across GRaDEM. They will review business cases developed in GRaDEM to ensure accuracy completeness and timely submission. They will mentor less experienced colleagues in the portfolio organization.
  • The Manager, Portfolio Operations will use finance and business knowledge to analyze the financial performance metrics of the portfolio to determine trends and opportunities for improvement. The Manager, Portfolio Operations will be an integral partner with business, Client Partners and Digital project managers to obtain and evaluate relevant project expenditures against budget, forecast and provide insight to help deliver the required financial outcome for the overall portfolio.
  • The Manager, Portfolio Operations will lead and own the annual budgeting cycle to ensure accuracy and efficiency of the budget submission to finance. The Manager, Portfolio Operations will be the financial expert for their portfolio and will be able to speak clearly and succinctly to the performance of the portfolio and generate up-to-date financial information (active projects, costs, general timelines, etc) is available upon request.
  • The Manager, Portfolio Operations will work closely with selected GRaDEM LT members based on their portfolio responsibility to help identify areas of opportunity for Digital budget savings
  • The Manager, Portfolio Operations will use influential leadership to persuade management to make changes to processes to resolve challenging areas within the organization and implement process improvement solutions.
  • The Manager, Portfolio Operations will support the Sr. Director / GRaDEM Chief of Staff to complete ad-hoc analysis for across the portfolios in GRaDEM to support inquiries from Client Partners, Enabling and Business finance, Customer Groups and Digital Leadership.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree with five years of relevant financial management experience; OR Master’s degree with three years of relevant financial management experience; OR Associate's degree with seven years of relevant financial management experience or 10 years of relevant financial management experience with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Manages own time to meet agreed targets; develops plans for short-term work activities on own projects
  • Basic understanding of Digital terms and IT platforms
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Deep knowledge/understanding of the finance principles and concepts
  • Makes decisions to resolve moderately complex problems in standard situations
  • Action orientated
  • Resourceful and creative
  • Competency with spreadsheets & financial modelling (comfort with data manipulation and financial systems) and effective use of other Microsoft Office products (e.g. PowerPoint, Word)
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products with moderate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of Software Contracts and Renewals
  • Experienced with Ariba, SAP, Taulia, P3, BCAT
  • 3 - 5 Yrs of Portfolio Management Experience
  • Experience to influence change and deliver results
  • Ability to lead when necessary and own work/processes
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong time management skills
