Position Description
The objective of the Conservation and Energy Efficiency department is to design and implement cost-effective Demand Side Management(DSM), beneficial electrification, renewable energy, and customer service programs for residential and commercial customers in accordance with company policies, procedures, and strategy. This position directs the development of both commercial and residential programs and is responsible for directing financial, research, technical support, and analysis to the group in the design, development, and implementation of DSM, beneficial electrification, renewable energy, and customer service programs. This position also cultivates and maintains professional relationships with Trade Allies, Santee Cooper personnel, and external stakeholders.
Essential Job Tasks:
Supervises Program Development personnel. Ensure employees work safely and are knowledgeable about Demand Side Management(DSM), beneficial electrification(BE), renewable energy(RE), and customer service programs, are good ambassadors for Santee Cooper, and establish good working relationships with Trade Allies and other internal and external stakeholders in order to meet corporate goals.
Effectively manages resources using financial, project management, and marketing tools to research, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate cost-effective DSM (using cost-benefit analysis), BE, RE, and customer service programs for our Retail customers(commercial and residential) to meet corporate objectives.
Directs program research, market analysis, and load research, initiate and evaluates third-party surveys, researches and analyzes published data from recognized energy experts, and evaluates professional advice from industry consultants.
Evaluates new energy-efficient and distributed energy resource (DER) equipment and technologies.
Oversees the management of contracts with industry consultants, third-party survey contractors, and data providers.
Serves as the Retail subject matter expert for all DSM-related inputs into the Integrated Resource Planning(IRP) process.
Coordinates DSM-related IRP activities with internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to consultants and Central Electric cooperative.
Procures and interprets Market Potential Studies for Santee Cooper’s Retail service area and provides DSM-related content for the IRP report.
Provides testimony as required before the Public Service Commission regarding Santee Cooper’s current and forecasted DSM activities and the methodologies used to study and justify these efforts.
Directs development of business plans with cost projections, marketing concepts, participation levels, estimated savings and program measures.
Develops policies, procedures, and standards for implementing programs.
Reevaluates plans periodically, typically on an annual basis.
Supports employee development through the coordination of conferences, cross-training, and internal and external classes as appropriate.
Participates in internal and external training, conferences, and cross-training, as well as educating internal/external customers on the services Santee Cooper has to offer.
Participates in Trade Ally, professional groups/memberships, and Santee Cooper events, such as meetings, and trade shows.
Ensures the reports for savings and activities related to Santee Cooper DSM, BE, and RE programs are completed timely and accurately.
Ensures that Capital and O&M budgets are prepared correctly and monitored regularly to support the development and implementation of Retail DSM, BE, and RE programs.
Provides direction and input to Corporate Communications regarding marketing, advertising, and promotions through customers, media, Trade Allies and others in support of C&EE Programs.
Directs the completion and research analysis of surveys, including commercial and residential appliance saturation surveys, customer engagement surveys, etc., and ensure that surveys are completed on schedule and support corporate goals.
Position Requirements
This position may be eligible for hybrid (remote and in person arrangement).
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management, Economics, or Business Administration + 10 years utility experience, including technical, as well as marketing/customer-oriented work required.
A Minimum of two years of supervisory experience is preferred.
Compensation Information:
$104,770 - $130,960 (min. - mid.)
