The Managing Director of People and Culture is a highly motivated, passionate, and seasoned leader of people and culture with deep experience building and executing effective approaches to talent management and creating an inspiring and inclusive organizational culture. You are expert in employment/labor laws and human resources best practices. You are a clear communicator (written and verbal) and are comfortable advocating for changes to long-time practices if they are no longer serving the organizational goals and human resources strategy. You are interested in solving problems by gathering historical information, collecting new data, and consulting with others in a collaborative manner. You are an analytical thinker. You can solve problems quickly and effectively, demonstrating a passion for providing and implementing effective solutions to complex problems. You are well versed in issues of systemic oppression, including racial justice, and are committed to deepening your knowledge, dismantling oppressive systems, and creating systems and processes that are equitable, inclusive, and foster diversity.
The Managing Director of People and Culture reports to the CEO and serves as a member of the Cabinet (CSS’s senior leadership team) and will lead the execution of a human resource strategy in support of CSS’s overall vision, mission, strategic direction, and organizational goals. In this role, you will serve as a strategic advisor, functional expert, and thought partner to the CEO and the senior leadership team on all people matters. You will serve as the managing director primarily responsible for organizational culture and its impact on the organization’s ability to achieve its goals. You will partner with other CSS staff members to ensure that the culture, talent, and leadership are in place to successfully advance the mission of CSS.
The Managing Director of People and Culture will provide dynamic and strategic leadership to the organization on matters relating to organizational culture, talent acquisition and retention, talent management and development, engagement, compensation, benefits, HR technology, HR operations, staff health and wellness, employment laws and regulations, employment risk mitigation, and all people-related policies.
Leading a team of HR and technology staff and supported by several consultants to envision, you will develop and execute CSS’s human resource and technology strategies.
