Manufacturing Engineer Job at Terra Drive Systems
Summary of ideal candidate: A person to help establish and achieve the Policy Deployment goals year after year by incorporating innovative ideas to reduce overall cost of the product and plant supplies. To actively participate in leading product launches and CI projects using the TDS tools to achieve maximum results. Is curious for what is possible, is self motivated and takes the initiative to make things happen.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Design machining, hydraulic, welding, and assembly fixtures that produce quality parts
2. Resolve issues on the shop floor utilizing the 5-Why process and other lean tools
3. Develop and maintain routing files and standardized work for various operations
4. Facilitate Cost Improvement Ideas
5. Manage specific project tasks as assigned
6. Review new designs for manufacturability
7. Participate in the Lean Product Development process
8. Perform cost justification analysis for capital equipment (RCE)
9. Conduct make/buy analysis
10. Establish process times and cost for new products
11. Maintain and track ECR’s
12. Perform time observations on process changes and new products
13. Purchase essential equipment and tools for the plant
Qualifications / Training / Skill Requirements:
· Well organized
· Accurate and attentive to detail
· Excellent communication and people skills
· Self starter
· Strong computer, CNC programming and design skills
Qualifications/Training/Skill Preferred:
· Strong knowledge of machining, hydraulics, metal fabrication, welding, and assembly processes
· Understanding of Lean Manufacturing
· Knowledge and ability to apply Poka-Yoke concepts to fixture design
· Ability to adapt in abnormal circumstances quickly and effectively
· Understanding of ISO 9001:2015
· Ability to resolve problems
· Proficient use of MS Office ( Outlook, Excel, Power Point and Word )
· Proficient use of design software ( Solidworks, AutoCAD or other design software)
· Knowledge of programming CNC machines ( Machining Centers, Lasers and other CNC equipment)
Education Requirements:
Bachelors Degree (BSIE, BSME, BSMET) or 10 plus years of Mfg. Engineering Experience
Experience Requirements
5-8 years working in the metal manufacturing field performing the listed job responsibilities
Physical Demands:
Ability to assist with the manufacturing process, minimum travel and work overtime when necessary
