The candidate also must ideally be analytical and good at solving problems. They additionally should have solid manual dexterity, have good hand-eye coordination and be physically fit. Candidates must be self-directed, organized and are willing to learn. In addition to solid repair skills; marine technician must have solid written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

The ability to stand for long periods, able to carry out sea trials. Marine technician should be able to handle high noise levels and be comfortable with kneeling, stooping and working in cramped and uncomfortable positions. This person should be prepared to twist and turn his or her body often and must be open to working outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Team player- No attitude problems, will work with many different people
  • Performs major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on marine propulsion, related marine equipment and systems using schematic charts and technical manuals. Training for specialist equipment will be given.
  • Capable of establishing and maintaining a preventive maintenance program for marine engines and related marine equipment.
  • Supervises student and temporary employees a minor portion of the employee's work time.
  • Assists in fabrication of equipment.
  • Purchases parts and supplies.
  • Writes specifications for and recommends purchase of marine equipment.
  • Engine mounts/Running Gear

Requirements:

-Mechanically inclined

-General knowledge of safe mechanical and work practices onsite and within the workshop

-Detail oriented and precise.

-Thrive in a fast-paced working environment.

-Work independently, perform tasks with little supervision and still be a part of a team.

-Experience in the Marine Industry, specifically in boat maintenance, boatyard repairs, etc. is a plus but not a requirement

-Grinding and welding experience also a plus but not a requirement.

-Must take pride in their work and a job well done.

-Must show tremendous Integrity and loyalty.

-No felonies, clean driving record.

-Marine shafting & or vibration analysis experience is a plus but not a requirement. Training will be provided for vibration analysis

-Willing to work as a part of a team and be professional while on the job site.
